Boy Scout Troop 350
of Old Orchard Beach, Maine,
with the help of  myOstrich Golf,
are pleased to bring you
Wedges for War!

Beginning in the Fall of 2003 and continuing until our Troops come home, the boys of Troop 350 are collecting golf clubs an balls to send to the men and women who are serving in the War Against Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Since Iraq is the largest sand trap of any golf course in the world, we thought it only fitting to send the troops Wedges!

Leisure time is precious to our soldiers, and they have already begun creating makeshift golf courses (see article), however they are limited by the terrain and the lack of equipment. We decided to help them out, and now you can help too!

Donate your old clubs - 9 irons and wedges are in high demand, though all clubs are accepted - and any old golf balls you have lying around (please wash them first if they are very dirty).

We will bundle these up every month or so, and send them off to the troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. We can also use cash to help offset the costs of shipping, however we are committed to ship these clubs over ourselves, even if we have to raise money through bottle drives and other fund raising activities to pay the shipping costs ourselves.

The kind people at myOstrich Golf have agreed to act as our clearing house, handling the incoming donations and helping us package them up for shipping.

Please send your donations to:

If you would like to donate postage money to help offset the costs of packaging and shipping the clubs overseas, please use the PayPal button below. We accept all major credit cards, and any amount is greatly appreciated. Since BSA fund raising regulations prohibit cash donations directly to any Boy Scout Troop, all of the donations for postage are officlaly made to myOstrich Internet Services, who have agreed to pay all of our postage costs!

Please pass the word and tell everyone you know what we are trying to do for the men and women serving in the War Against Terror. With your help and donations, we can make their time away from family, friends and a real golf course, a little more tolerable.

Common Questions:

Why are you doing this?
We thought it was the least we could do to help the war effort.

I have some old broken clubs, do you want those too?
Absolutely! The clubmakers at myOstrich Golf will fix up clubs in any condition - even if they need new shafts or grips!

What about only club heads, shafts or grips?
Sure thing. We'll combine any of the parts we get into working clubs!

Is my donation tax deductible?
You will have to ask your accountant. We think it is, but we are not accountants!

Will you send me a receipt for my donation?
We will if you ask in writing when you send us your clubs. We can't put a dollar figure on it, but we'll acknowledge the receipt of your donation and you can take it from there. It would help us out if you included a business size Self Addressed Stamped Envelope in your box.

What if I have more questions?
Please send any questions to info@WedgesForWar.com and one of us will get back to you as soon as we can.

Can I specify that my clubs go to a specific person in Iraq?
I'm afraid not. You can request that we send them to a specific unit, but we cannot guarantee that they will get to that unit. The actual distribution is out of our direct control.
